L’arte di preparare dolci è molto più che saper eseguire ricette alla perfezione: è un vero e proprio gesto d’amore.
Ernst Knam
1948
It was 1948 when grandpa Emilio and his wife Norma took over the production and sales activity of the bakery and pastry shop beside the Verdi theatre. The town was emerging from a war that had left deep scars, so everyone had to roll up their sleeves to start over. Those were years of great sacrifices, but alas, Emilio would not get to reap the rewards of his work. He died in 1963, just over sixty years old, and his son Nereo, who had thus far only worked as a sales representative, found himself at a crossroads. He took the second road and, thanks to his dynamic spirit and an inherent disposition for business, he went on to bring about a series of innovations and improvements.
1970
In 1970 the production area was completely restructured after a devastating fire the year before, thus gaining an utterly new and modern look. Several changes were made after that, and at the end of the 1970’s Nereo was joined by his wife Carla and their son Marco. In 1982 the shop was completely renovated and refurbished again in 1998, when the front area was doubled and the production area significantly expanded.
2000
In 2010 the street became a pedestrian area and the market changed once again. An outside area was set up with immediate positive response by the patrons. Unfortunately, Nereo and Carla passed in 2015, but Marco could still count on the help of his daughter Giulia, who had become part of the shop just in time for her grandparents to see that their tradition would carry on with a fourth generation. Now, just before its 70th anniversary, the shop has once again experienced some restyling with the addition of a small winter garden, which is bound to offer some extra comfort during lunch breaks, which have become a key moment for the business.
